ZHANGZHOU IN FUJIAN PROVINCE
Nodal Infrastructure for Dwelling Communities
Many places in Zhangzhou and in Beijing’s hutongs suffer from inadequate to no infrastructure for basic services such as heating and sewage. Whereas infrastructure is usually conceived as a citywide system one plugs into, we are seeking to evolve the paradigm to a mix of eco-friendly on and off-grid solutions (current), to potentially 100% off grid solutions (future). Nodal infrastructure is a potential alternative providing low impact (easy to install, expand, remove), eco-conscious infrastructure for local & newly emerging communities that live/dwell in these cities.
MORE THAN JUST THE BASICS
This infrastructure modular unit includes a combination of next-generation technologies to power and store the energy generated. Solar windows are incorporated in the design of the unit to minimize the aesthetic impact but retaining an optimal energy generation capability. Efficient solar heaters will complement PV systems to provide heat and hot water to the unit. Energy is stored in next-generation Li-ion batteries that provide energy storage in the smallest size available.
NODAL AND MODULAR
The module is prefabricated offsite and assembled onsite. Prefabrication allows for easy & FAST construction assemblage, less disruptive to neighbors and community. Modular construction allows for different size configurations as needs change and upgrading of components as technology
